Monette Maillet

Career

Monette’s career has spanned more than three decades across the legal, policy, and oversight communities of the federal government. She practised law for over 25 years, specializing in human rights, and held senior executive roles for more than 15 years in small federal agencies.

At the Canadian Human Rights Commission, Monette served as litigation counsel, Director, Director General, and ultimately as Senior General Counsel, leading teams responsible for complaints, legal services, policy, international relations, and communications. She has appeared before numerous parliamentary committees and led the development of policy positions and stakeholder outreach strategies that advanced human rights domestically and internationally.

Monette later served as Executive Director of the Office of the Correctional Investigator, where she oversaw the modernization and strategic realignment of the organization to enhance its effectiveness as an oversight agency. Throughout her career, she has engaged extensively with Parliament, Indigenous communities, the United Nations, and other international human rights bodies.

Coaching

As a coach, Monette brings empathy, insight, and a deep understanding of organizational dynamics to help her clients articulate their goals and identify the mindsets or patterns that may be limiting their growth. Her approach is collaborative and tailored—designed to help clients navigate the gap between where they are and where they want to be, while building the confidence and awareness to sustain meaningful change.

Qualifications/Certifications

Monette is a certified Integral Professional Coach through Integral Coaching Canada and a certified Life Mastery Consultant with the Brave Thinking Institute.
She holds a Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.) degree from Dalhousie University (1990).
